Composed of USIT alumni, the Giving Committee is the governing body of the USIT Foundation. The Giving Committee sets annual giving objectives, philanthropic focus areas, and final recommendations for fund distribution. The Giving Committee works closely with the student-led analyst team throughout the year, providing guidance and direction in the diligence process for determining donation opportunities and charities.

Angela Yang

Chairperson

Angela is a Private Capital/Advisory Associate at BDT & MSD Partners, currently based in New York City. She was previously the recidivism portfolio manager as part of the inaugural PIT team, served as USIT President, and graduated from UT Austin in 2020 with majors in Business Honors and Finance. She has prior experience working to help homeless youth and undocumented workers, and she is passionate about issues relating to justice and opportunity. Outside of work, Angela enjoys bouldering at her favorite Brooklyn gym and exploring the many ethnic neighborhoods of Queens.

Harvey Powers | Member

Harvey runs investments for a Texas-based family office, focusing on private equity assets and supporting the management teams building those businesses. Previously, he co-founded Nextvest, a deal-by-deal private equity platform. He holds Plan II and BHP undergraduate degrees from UT-Austin where he co-founded USIT.

Eddie Wu | Member

Eddie is a VC Associate at the Partnership for New York City, currently located in the New York Metropolitan Area. He graduated from UT Austin in 2021 with a major in management. Outside of work, he enjoys playing competitive Spikeball.

Benedikt Kroll | Member

Benedikt is a Portfolio Manager at Millennium, an investment management firm and one of the world's largest alternative asset management firms. He was the Director of Investment of USIT from 2013-2015 and graduated from UT Austin in 2016 with majors in BHP and finance.

Nilay Gandhi | Member

Nilay is an analyst at McKinsey & Company, currently based in Dallas, TX. A member of PIT's inaugural analyst class, he served as the Director of Philanthropy from 2022 - 2023 and as a Portfolio Manager from 2023 - 2024. He graduated in 2024 as a finance and government major.

Ariel Johnson | Member

Ariel is an Investment Professional at State Farm in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from UT Austin in 2022 with majors in BHP, economics and minors in german and real Estate. In her free time, Ariel’s hobbies include calisthenics and powerlifting.
